How it works
- 1Install SignaCast from Google Play on the device, or push it through your MDM
- 2A pairing code appears on the TV
- 3Enter the code in Manager › Screens › Pair, and assign content
About Android TV for SignaCast
The SignaCast app for Android TV plays your playlists, schedules, layouts and designs on Android TV and Google TV boxes, TVs with Android TV built in, and AOSP signage boxes. Pairing takes one code typed into the Manager; from then on the screen updates itself and reports when it was last seen.
Designs are rendered server-side at full resolution and streamed to the device, the same way the Roku player works. Live streams, tickers and crossfades play natively, and the whole content bundle is cached on the device so playback continues through a network drop.
Android is the platform we recommend for new installs. Set the device up in managed (device-owner) mode and the player starts on boot, stays locked to the app, can be rebooted remotely and takes updates silently. Without managed mode it still starts on boot, but less reliably on recent Android versions.
